A-League All Stars – Moss Honoured to Assist Gombau

Newcastle Jets goal keeper Mark Birighitti, Perth Glory midfielder Youssouf Hersi, Central Coast midfielder Nick Montgomery and Wellington Phoenix Manny Muscat are the final players to be added to the 2014 FOXTEL A-League All Stars squad for the upcoming match against Serie A champions Juventus at ANZ Stadium on Sunday 10 August 2014.

Great seats for the match are still available. Go to www.a-leagueallstars.com.au/tickets for details.

FOXTEL A-League All Stars Head Coach Josep Gombau believes that he now has a group of players that will be able to compete against the current Italian Serie A champions.

I’m satisfied with the squad that we have to play against Juventus,” Gombau said. “It will be a great experience for all the players and coaches that are involved and I want everybody to enjoy this ‘football party’.”

“The most important part of the event for the players is to allow the fans to enjoy this fantastic game. Juventus is one of the best teams in the world at the moment. I want everybody to appreciate the opportunity we have and work hard every single minute they are on the field.

“I want to say thank you to FFA for bringing this match here to Australia and also to the fans for the support to myself and the players who have been selected.”

In addition to the finalisation of the FOXTEL A-League All Stars playing squad, Football Federation Australia today also confirmed the Coaching staff that will support Gombau for this historic match.

Central Coast Mariners Head Coach Phil Moss has been named as Gombau’s assistant coach with Peter Blazincic from Adelaide United as the goal keeper coach.

Moss is excited about the prospect of working with Gombau to prepare the FOXTEL A-League All Stars for their challenge against the Bianconeri.

“It’s a great honour to be hand-picked by Josep and FFA in this position for this historic match,” Moss said. “To be able to help prepare the best of the Hyundai A-League to face such an iconic club as Juventus was too good an opportunity to pass up.

“Personally, I want to learn as much as possible from my involvement with the FOXTEL A-League All Stars and then apply those learnings when I return to my club.

“I would also like to thank the Central Coast Mariners club and my players for their understanding to allow me to take this position and I will be repay their confidence by returning as a better coach as a result of my experience.”

The FOXTEL A-League All Stars will meet Juventus at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on 10 August with the match to be broadcast live and exclusive on the Seven Network nationally.
