A-League: SYDNEY FC SIGN YOUNG SOCCEROOS STAR

Sydney FC has again beaten off competition to sign one of Australian football’s best young talents, with versatile Young Socceroos star Christopher Naumoff penning a two year deal.

The attacking midfielder was courted by a number of other high profile clubs but signed for the Sky Blues in further proof of Sydney FC’s commitment to investing in Australia’s football future.

“It feels incredible to be signing for my home club,” said Naumoff. “My development as a player since signing for Sydney FC’s National Youth League squad has been unbelievable, and I have total belief that I can fulfil my ambitions at this club.

“It’s a dream for every young footballer in Australia to sign a first team contract with Sydney FC and walk out in the Sky Blues shirt. I’m so pleased to have achieved that and I can’t wait to continue on the next step in my career with the club.”

The 19 year old made his Hyundai A-League debut as a National Youth League player for Sydney FC last season on the opening day, and won the club’s Young Player of the Year Award.

Sydney FC Head Coach Graham Arnold has been thrilled by Naumoff’s attitude and ability since arriving at the club and can see a great future for Sydney FC’s growing crop of young players.

“Christopher turned down some tempting offers to sign for Sydney FC and I’m delighted that he has done so,” he said.

“We are investing in a very talented stable of excellent young footballers and the great thing is that they are from the Sydney and New South Wales region.

“We’ve made no secret of the fact that Sydney FC intends to build and develop the finest young players in the country, and this is a further indication of that.

“I think it’s well known that I have never been afraid to give young players a chance and this is another example of a quality young player, which is what I want to bring to Sydney FC.

“Christopher has been with the club for a little while and he and his family are confident in the direction we are headed. I’m hopeful he can be a big part of that,” he concluded.

Naumoff has recently returned from Young Socceroos duty in the USA alongside fellow Sydney FC player Hagi Gligor. The pair were involved as Paul Okon’s squad beat Bermuda 4-1, Chile 5-4 and drew 0-0 with a highly talented USA team.
