Keogh Off To Flying Start

Perth Glory FC striker Andy Keogh has become the first player in five Hyundai A-League seasons to score four goals after two rounds in the competition.

The 28-year old Irish import is currently the Hyundai A-League’s top scorer, thanks to his hat-trick yesterday which helped the Glory surge to victory, defeating champions Brisbane Roar, 3-2 at nib Stadium.

In all, Keogh has scored seven goals in four competitive matches- including a brace in the round of 32 Westfield FFA Cup match against Newcastle Jets and another against St Albans Saints in the round of 16.

The last player to score four goals after two rounds of the regular season was former Perth striker Shane Smeltz, during his time at Gold Coast in season 09/10.

There was some conjecture about Keogh’s second goal, which took a deflection and helped Glory level the score at 2-2 but the match officials awarded the goal to the centre forward.

“I’ve turned the man, curled one looking for the far corner…It’s debatable whether it was going in or not, but it’s been given to me and I’m happy to take the hat-trick.” Keogh said.

The potent striker however was quick to point out it was a team perfomance that got Glory over the line.

“It was a great day a great team performance and it was nice to get on the scoresheet as well”

Keogh, who moved to Perth earlier this season to be closer with his family said life couldn’t be better.

“I feel good, I’m just happy, I’m just playing football and happy with my team mates and my surroundings, I got my family here Im’ just in a happy place and hopefully that continues”.

Perth Glory FC is currenty two points clear at the top of the Hyundai A-League table and heads to Coopers Stadium to take on 4th placed Adelaide United this Sunday.

Glory will return to nib Stadium to take on Melbourne Victory on Wednesday October 29 for what promises to be an exciting quarter final Westfield FFA Cup clash.
