Westfield W-League 2014/15 Round 11 Review

Melbourne Victory are the second team to book a Westfield W-League semi-finals berth after last season’s champions overpowered fifth-placed Newcastle Jets 4-0 to move clear into second spot on the ladder.

Racheal Quigley starred with a hat-trick while Westfield Young Matildas midfielder Beattie Goad was also on the scoresheet as the Victory scored twice in each half at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday.

Having now completed their regular season fixtures the Victory, who head to Japan this week for the International Women’s Club Challenge, await to see if they hang onto a home semi-final with Sydney FC and Canberra United lurking three points behind.

The other match in the split round saw Adelaide United and Western Sydney Wanderers battle out a tough 2-2 draw.

American midfielder Keelin Winters netted in each half from the penalty spot for the Wanderers, while teenagers Emily Condon and Alexandra Chidiac scored at either end of the game to ensure parity for the home side.
