Result of independent Disciplinary Committee hearing

Sydney

Wednesday, 18 March 2015

The independent Disciplinary Committee – consisting of John Marshall SC (Chair), Anthony Lo Surdo and David Barrett – convened to consider an incident referred to it from the rescheduled Western Sydney Wanderers FC and Melbourne City FC Round 10 match of the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 Season.

The incident involved Connor Chapman (Melbourne City FC). On 12 March 2015 the independent Match Review Panel determined that the incident was a Category 2 Offence of “unsporting conduct toward a match official” and referred the incident to the Disciplinary Committee to determine whether a sanction, in addition to the Mandatory Match Suspension, should be imposed.

The Disciplinary Committee determined he must serve three matches in addition to the Mandatory Match Suspension, being the minimum sanction for the offence of unsporting conduct towards a match official.

Chapman has already served the Mandatory Match Suspension and will not be available for Melbourne City FC’s upcoming matches against Sydney FC, Brisbane Roar FC and Western Sydney Wanderers FC.

Chapman has the right to appeal the determination of the Disciplinary Committee. If he intends to do so, he must advise FFA within 7 days of receiving the written determination.
