KELLY DEPARTS FFA FOR SENIOR MEDIA INDUSTRY ROLE

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has today announced that Chief Operating Officer John Kelly will depart FFA next month.

Kelly has accepted a senior executive role in the media industry with Southern Cross Austereo as Chief Operating Officer.

Kelly joined FFA in February 2012 as Chief Financial Officer and was elevated to COO in March 2013. Prior to joining FFA, he had long career with free-to-air broadcaster Ten Network Holdings Ltd.

FFA CEO David Gallop said that Kelly had made a significant contribution to the successful operations of FFA over the past four years

“The record broadcast deal with Fox Sports and SBS, the launch of the Western Sydney Wanderers and the development of the Whole of Football Plan were just a few of the successful projects where John played a big role,” said Gallop.

“On behalf of his colleagues at FFA and his friends across the game, I congratulate John on his new position in an industry where he made his name and sees his future.”

Kelly said today that he has mixed feelings leaving FFA at a time when Australian football is entering a new phase of growth.

“There’s a robust strategic plan ready to roll and a new broadcast deal looming, so these are exciting times for FFA and Australian football,” said Kelly.

“David Gallop is the most experienced CEO in the sports business and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with him and the FFA team on some of the biggest projects the game has seen.”
