20 Years of Glory

With 11 days remaining until Perth Glory FC celebrates its 20th anniversary in Australian football, the club has finalised its squad for the Hyundai A-League season 16/17.

Boasting 14 WA born or raised players, including the return of Adam Taggart, Rhys Williams and Rostyn Griffiths coupled with the re-signing of reigning Johnny Warren medallist Diego Castro, Perth will open its new Hyundai A-League campaign against the Central Coast Mariners on October 8 at nib Stadium.

Perth Glory’s story began on October 13 at Perth Oval (nib Stadium) in 1996.

While the team lost 1-4 against UTS Olympic in its opening game, the West Australians went on to be a dominant force in the NSL (National Socccer League) winning three premierships and two championships.

The team will play its first match of the 16/17 season against the Mariners in a Heritage Jersey which will be revealed this weekend at the QBE Gloryus Family Fun Day at Elizabeth Quay.

The event will also mark the announcement of the team’s new captain.
