Canberra United have upset Perth Glory with a 3-1 win in today’s Grand Final to claim their second Westfield W-League championship.
Stephanie Ochs scored after 20 minutes for Canberra, but Perth Glory midfielder Collette McCallum equalised with a typically classy free-kick midway through the second half to leave the game in the balance.
Player of the match Ashleigh Sykes restored Canberra’s lead with a quarter of an hour remaining, and added a second just three minutes later to seal the contest.
The match was action-packed throughout with both sides each missing a penalty, but ultimately record-breaking premiers Perth were unable to collect their maiden championship.
